Sebastian was my first newborn boy in a string of newborn girls. I was so excited to have a little newborn boy in my studio and then when I saw his handsome face I was even more excited. He was an absolute dream!

Have I ever mentioned how much I love begin a newborn photographer? My goal is to not only give my clients beautiful images that they will treasure a lifetime but also a wonderful experience from start to finish. Shelly and  her husband Tyler were such a joy to work with for this stunning maternity session. They wanted to fully embrace the snow which I am always up for BUT, it was so incredibly cold outside! We popped out there some stunning shots until I couldn’t feel my fingers, and then we headed into the studio.

Aren’t they just too cute?!? I just love watching couples during this exciting time in their lives. It’s always so fun when I see them then with their new sweet little baby for the first time after a maternity session, they truly have that new parent “glow.”

I am so looking forward to doing their newborn session next month when their sweet babe arrives.

A couple of weeks ago our Pastor spoke about Chazown. Chazown is a Hebrew word  meaning: a dream, revelation, or vision. He spoke about how God created us with our own Chazown, it’s what we are created to do.  In his message he asked us to fill in the blank, ” I was created to ________.” That question set my mind spinning and going back to a moment a little over two years ago, a moment I hadn’t thought about in a long time.

Two years ago, before I started my photography business we had a message in church about asking God for something, and how we need to be bold in what we ask God for because after all, He can do anything. Our pastor asked us to write that thing down on a piece of paper and to pray about it and that our church staff would be praying for them as well. I wrote on that paper, over two years ago that I wanted to have my own successful business. I knew I wanted my own business but I wasn’t sure what it would be.  I could have never imaged that two years later that prayer would been answered in the way it has been. I have always said that God has blessed my business but I hadn’t put two and two together. I ASKED God for this business, I prayed over it, and others prayed over it before it even started, God answered my prayer.  He gave me this passion and I know that my Chazown, what I was created to do, is photography.  My love for it, for my clients, for this business is very hard to put into words, because it is so deeply rooted .

This passion gives me the opportunity to bring joy to people’s lives. It allows me to meet so many new, amazing people, and to be part of their life for a moment or a lifetime. I have created life long friendships, I have laughed and cried with clients. I have prayed for them and with them and I have seen God perform miracles in their lives.  I have tried to be a blessing to everyone I meet because I whole heartedly believe we are blessed to be a blessing. One of my favorite quotes is from Mother Teresa and it is “do small things with great love.” I try to put this into practice every day, in my personal life and in my professional life.

This business isn’t always easy, there are definitely hard days, I have shed tears, I have been hurt, I have been discouraged, and I have asked myself why I am doing this. But, every time this happens I feel a little nudge from God and I remember that this is so much more than a job, and His plans for me is so much greater than my mind can comprehend. So, I want to thank each and everyone of you who has believed in me, supported me, and prayed for me. I appreciate you so much and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Bethany contacted me back in October about doing maternity session for their first baby. She said she wanted to “embrace the snowy weather” so when we planned their session for December 19th we were sure there would be snow. Their session day came and there was absolutely no snow, but we rolled with it and the outcome was a stunning session. Bethany and Chris were so much fun to work with, they have such amazing personalities and you can tell that they are just going to be amazing parents.

At the end of our session I asked if there was any other poses or ideas they wanted to try and Bethany showed me a picture and explained that Chris had served our Country in the Army for the past 8 years and she thought this was a fun idea, and I am always up for a fun idea.

After we got the shot Bethany got up and said “ok now I’ll do it!” I just giggled, and was totally up for a funny shot, but then Bethany did this…

I was so totally impressed, I mean I can’t even do that in real life for more then 4 seconds and here Bethany is, pregnant, doing an amazing push up/ plank like it was nothing. I really still can’t believe it, Bethany you are superwoman!

As my photography business has grown I have began receiving other photographers and aspiring photographers contacting me and asking to mentor with me. It is such an honor that others see something in me and my work that they would want to learn from me, so I built mentoring into my business.

For this mentoring session I did a model call for a newborn baby girl because I not was mentoring but I also had several girl accessories that I received from vendors that I was looking to photograph for them.  I was so incredibly lucky to get such a beautiful little girl with such a wonderful disposition. Painter was such an easy newborn to photograph and I was so grateful for that as I taught and chatted.

I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from my family to yours! A couple of weekends ago it was so nice out, we were getting ready to do a little shopping, visit Santa and then go to a family Christmas party so I decided to snap a couple pictures. Why is it always that when we don’t have it “planned” I always end up getting my favorite photos? Maybe because there is no pressure.

Then because I am such an awesome mom (total sarcasm here) I handed my camera over to our daughter and had her snap a couple of my hot hubby and I.

Isn’t he handsome? I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband, we have been together for almost 15 years, married for 10 years. He is my very best friend and he is the best dad in the whole world, like he is a WAY better parent that me. So then of course our son wanted to take some pictures so here is one he took of my daughter and I.

So there you have it, our little mini inpromptu Christmas photo shoot! I wish you all the very merriest of Christmases. Enjoy your time with family and friends, hug them all tight, laugh, eat, and don’t worry about cleaning up the mess.
