I think it’s important sometimes as a photographer to remind myself why I started this business and to push my creativity and to view things in a “different light” I had a vision of a type of session I wanted to shoot with my own children, a session much like the direction in which my family sessions are going where it is not as posed and more natural in an attempt to freeze time and remember them as they are at this age. So, last week my husband and I packed up the kids and headed downtown, there was not much prep, I had the kids wear clothes that were already in their closets and the feeling was a bit refreshing.
As you would guess I take pictures of my kids a lot so their natural reaction is to pose so it was fun for me to say “nope don’t look and smile, just be normal and have fun!” We skipped rocks, threw sand, smelled flowers and laughed. You will notice my son’s shorts got wet and their hands got dirty but that’s who they are and I couldn’t be more thrilled with how the images turned out. They are ones I will treasure for many reasons.
